Count Sarmi, from Italy, worked at Elizabeth Arden from 1951 to 1959. In that year he started his own label, Sarmi. He was best known for his opulent evening looks, and for his use of extravagant fabrics, but he also produced simple, but expensive, day clothing. In 1972, his business was renamed Ferdinando Sarmi. He closed not too long afterward.
