JONES NEW YORK
Jones New York was started in 1970 by Sidney Kimmel with Rena Rowan as head designer, as a division of W.R. Grace. In 1975 Kimmel bought the label from Grace and established the Jones Apparel Group. Through the 70s and 80s Jones New York grew to be a major producer of ladies' wear, specializing in separates and career clothing.
Rena Rowan designed at Jones New York and was a vice president in the company until her retirement in 2000. Today, the Jones Apparel Group also owns many major American labels, including Kasper, Anne Klein, Nine West shoes, and Albert Nipon. In 2004 they acquired controlling interest in Barneys New York.
