CATHY HARDWICK
(1933) Cathy Hardwick was born in Korea and moved to the US in the 1950s. In San Francisco in the 1960s she started a boutique for which she was designing the clothes. Manufacturer Alvin Duskin hired her to design for him, and so Hardwick moved to New York. In 1972 she started Cathy Hardwick 'n' Friends, her own label, after she was approached by Bloomingdales.
Hardwick took a break from designing in the 80s, but by 1985, she was back in business. From 1986 - 88, Tom Ford was the chief designer at Cathy Hardwick. The company declared bankruptsy in 1988. Today there is a line called Cathy Hardwick Studio.
