JOHN GALLIANO
(b. 1960) John Galliano attended St. Martin's School of Art, and for his senior showing, he designed a collection inspired by late 18th Century France. The collection was sold to a London boutique, and Galliano was able to start his own business. His collections have often been influenced by history, with a touch of fantasy.
In 1995, Galliano was hired to replace the retiring Hubert de Givenchy, but the position was not suited to Galliano's talents and he was soon replaced. In 1996, he was hired as designer at Dior, where he continues to design the couture collection. He also continues to design under his own name.
