CELINE
Celine was founded in 1945 by Céline Vipiana, as a maker of children's shoes. In the 1950s they expanded their lines to include leather accessories. Ready-to-wear clothing was added in the early 1960s. The trademark horse and sulky date from 1967.
Their clothes often have their trademark metal horse-bit with chain detailing which was first used in 1972. In 1997, Michael Kors became the head designer at Celine. His contract with them expired in the spring of 2004, and Roberto Menichetti, a Burberry ex-designer, was named as his replacement. Today, Ivana Omazic is the artistic director at Celine.
