REYN SPOONER
Reyn Spooner was formed in 1962 when Reyn McCullough, a Catalina Island retailer, bought Spooners of Waikiki, a maker of surf shorts. Reyn Spooner began making and selling their own line of Hawaiian wear, but Reyn McCullough want a softer look than the bright traditional prints of Hawaiian shirts. In 1966, the solution was found - the shirts were made with the fabric turned wrong side out. This gave the shirt the desired soft look, and gave Reyn Spooner a recognizable look. Reyn Spooner is still in operation today.
