Membership in the Vintage Fashion Guild (VFG) is open to experienced professionals in the vintage fashion industry including, but not limited to: sellers, stylists, designers, fashion editors, curators, researchers, historians and librarians of fashion history. Annual Dues: $35 USD (This Application Best Viewed in Internet Explorer) The following is a list of Membership Guidelines for applicants who work in the fashion or vintage clothing trade, but who are not dealers. Examples would be authors or fashion editors, curators, stylists, historians and librarians of fashion history. We review each applicant individually. Membership Guidelines: - Maintains a fashion history website or vintage fashion related blog OR - Author of articles/books on fashion history or construction or journalist OR - Museum professional in a costume or textile collection OR - Educator in a fashion-related program at the university level - Reputation in the field of fashion, fashion history or vintage clothing.
*Applicants will be held to the VFG Code of Practice which can be found by clicking here or under "Who We Are" on the menu to the left. Please read this carefully before submitting your application. We Require: - Photos of any displays or exhibitions which you have organised. OR - Scans or links to any websites, newspaper articles, or reviews of your work in vintage. OR - A list of published works. OR - Summary of your teaching credentials and experience. Please use the Personal Statement form to let us know what your qualifications are and why you would like to be a member. This is also a great place to let us know what you would, as a member, have to offer the VFG. In the Supporting Credentials box, please provide a detailed summary of the extent of your vintage knowledge including your field of expertise, how you acquired your knowledge and any references that you feel would support your stated experience. Also, please include the required information listed above. Note: Complete contact information including a full address and phone number is required. Applications without this information will not be considered. If you have trouble submitting this information, just use any box to include.
Information about your application, including notification of it being accepted or declined, will be sent from memberships@vintagefashionguild.org, so give a VALID email address. If you use a spam filter, add this address to your filter's acceptable addresses. This should allow these messages to be received by your email service. Supporting Credentials: Please identify your field of expertise, how you acquired your knowledge, what your plans are for your retail space in the future, and any references that you feel would support your stated experience. Send all photos and scans to memberships@vintagefashionguild.org via a separate email following your application submission. Please state the applicant's name in the subject line. NOTE: The VFG holds the right to contact its members, registrants, and applicants via email, but does not share their member list with any third party. Applications for Membership will be reviewed and researched by the Membership Committee and the Board of Directors. The VFG reserves the right to deny any applicant. We also hold the right to terminate a membership should the member not adhere to the rules and regulations of the VFG or if their selling practices endanger the reputation of the VFG and its members. Additionally, if a member changes their selling practices so as to not meet our membership guidelines, or discontinues selling vintage clothing we reserve the right to terminate or not renew membership. In this event, membership dues would be returned on a pro rata basis. Membership dues are $35 per annum and are only payable on acceptance into the Vintage Fashion Guild, when you will be advised how to make payment. Membership of the VFG is allotted per person and cannot be regarded as a shared or group membership. Members are prohibited from sharing their membership access with others. If your business is a partnership, each partner must apply for membership separately. Only applications filled out in their entirety will be considered. Please allow 7-10 days for your application to be processed.
