Online Seller Application

~Best Viewed in Internet Explorer Browsers~
Membership in the Vintage Fashion Guild (VFG) is open to experienced professionals in the vintage fashion industry including, but not limited to: sellers, stylists, designers, fashion editors, curators, researchers, historians and librarians of fashion history.
Annual Dues: $35 USD

We ask the following of applicants:
-at least 100 feedbacks received (as a seller) if selling through an auction/fixed price public website; or
-proof of sales experience in vintage fashion for at least one year.

-The majority (more than 50%) of applicant’s online sales be vintage items (including clothing, accessories, jewelry, linens and patterns).

We request that online sales include the following:
-clear photos of the garment, including photos of any designer or manufacturer labels;
-detailed garment measurements;
-accurate and honest descriptions;
-full condition reports with disclosure of any flaws, issues or alterations; (do not simply use the term “ vintage condition” to pass over flaws or damages);
-correct date of the item;
-clear terms of sale;
-easy to read descriptions, with attention to spelling, grammar and layout; and
-overall quality, honesty, presentation and attention to detail in listings.

We also ask that applicants NOT:
-represent vintage inspired garments as vintage;
-use live models to show undergarments or sheer clothing in overtly suggestive or sexual photographs and/or using wording that is overtly suggestive or sexual;
-alter undamaged items to reflect current trends;
-sell illegal items such as: fakes, knockoffs, or garments or items made from endangered species.

Other factors taken into consideration:

-all feedback that is available through the internet and other sources
-professional conduct shown in other online forums, if applicable; and
-applicant’s interactions with other members of the vintage community.

One step in the review process involves inviting confidential comment from our membership who may have had experience dealing with a particular applicant. Since such information is understood to be potentially sensitive, it is treated with the utmost in confidentiality, meaning both that while it cannot be shared with an applicant at any point, it also poses no threat to their reputation.

Applicants will be held to the VFG Code of Practice which can be found by clicking here or under "Who We Are" on the menu to the left. Please read this carefully before submitting your application.

Please use the Personal Statement form to let us know what
your qualifications are and why you would like to be a
member. Include URL's of your website,
ebay store or other sites. Applicant should have at least 10
current auctions/items for sale when applying.

Information about your application, including notification of it being accepted or declined, will be sent from vfgmemberships@yahoo.com, so please supply us with a VALID email address. If you use a spam filter of any kind, please add this address to your filter's whitelist (a list of acceptable addresses) or to your contacts files.
